Help getting out of an abusive relationship?
A friend of mine has been in an abusive relationship with a really scary guy for the last 3 years. She is finally getting up the courage and he is leaving him. We have a plan to get her out on monday.
I need tips and advise on everything and anything.
What are legal rights and options can she get a police escort to help her move out?
financial, emotional, legal, any advise is welcomed here. What can she do? What can I do? really anything you can tell me will help. Thanks.

Tell the police to come because u are concerned. Consider fileing a restraining order hope I helped
She must break it off cleanly. None of that leaving the doorway open for a relationship in the future. She must be calm and strong. She has to be the one to tell him it’s over.
She can have a restraining order made out by the courts if she truly fears he may be violent toward her. He has to understand that she is leaving him because of the abuse and that his threats of further abuse will not make her like him again.
Gather as many people as you can to help her move out quickly. A church group or other volunteer organization might be willing to help.
I admire her courage and I wish we could all come there to help out with this one. Good luck to her and you. I willl be thinking of you on Monday.
Her legal rights are best addressed thru your local ‘legal aid’ chapter. Contact your area’s local legal bar association & ask how to get a hold of ‘em. They offer free legal advice & offer options you may have not thought of. Contact the local United Way for help on her emotional issues.
re: restraining orders, please note: they’re court orders telling her soon-to-be ex that he cannot come X number of feet near her. If he does, the orders can compel the police to arrest him. However, whether HE obeys the order is up to him. Its not some kind of magic shield. If he’s as dangerous as you allude, she’d best get scarce & go underground. A restraining order won’t prevent him from smashing in her front door, sadly, but it will get him held behind bars a lot longer if arrested by the police while on site where she’s at.
Good luck to you all.
